Press Release: Four in ten Brits log-on to Facebook and Twitter at least once a day whilst abroad

BOASTING BRITS ABROAD!
Research from T-Mobile reveals that British holiday-makers are a nation of 'Smoasters' – Social Media Boasters

·         60% of Brits can't help but brag via social media 'Smoasting' whilst on holiday
·         Four in ten Brits log-on to Facebook and Twitter at least once a day whilst abroad
·         Almost half of Brits (45%) will only tag themselves on a holiday photo if the location is glamorous and it will make them look good

London, 29th June, 2012 – New research from T-Mobile has revealed that six in ten Brits can't live without 'Smoasting' (Social Media Boasting) whilst on holiday, whether it be checking themselves in at exotic locations, status updates boasting of time in the sun or uploading pictures of jet-setting adventures.

The survey commissioned by T-Mobile has been released to coincide with the newly launched Internet and Broadband Travel Boosters - a new system offering customers peace of mind that when browsing the internet abroad, they will never pay more than they expect anywhere in the world. When wanting to 'Smoast' they will automatically be re-directed to a page where they will be prompted to buy a booster allowing them access to the internet.

With Social Media being so integral in our modern lives, 'Smoasting' has snowballed into a trend, with over 50% of Brits having admitted to checking themselves in at a famous landmark, uploading smug shots of themselves at the beach or enjoying a fancy meal whilst on holiday, all to show off to their friends. It has been revealed that 45% will only tag themselves at a location if it's glamorous and makes them look good, while a fifth do it purely to make other people jealous.

According to the research, three in ten say they would deliberately write a boastful holiday status to make people at home envious. Six in ten defend their boasting by insisting if they're happy they have a right to shout about it online, half the study saying it's fine because 'everyone else does it', and four in ten do it just because they think it's amusing to wind others up. 15% of people have admitted to boasting about their holiday online, just to target an ex-partner they wanted to make jealous.

A T-Mobile spokesperson said: "With the holiday season fast approaching, more and more people will want to use social media whilst away on holiday. As a result we have introduced the Internet and Broadband Travel Boosters - this brand new system gives our customers the unbeatable re-assurance that they will never pay more than they expect, anywhere in the world for the use of any mobile data."

Jo Hemmings, Psychologist said: "The T-Mobile research shows that we Brits have totally embraced the concept of social networking, so it's no wonder that 60% of people need to feel in contact when they are on holiday, and many of us like to check in daily. We're not an especially boastful nation – we usually tend to play down our achievements but social networking has enabled us to post updates and photos about what we're up to anywhere in the world. Posting updates on social networking sites, while we're on holiday, is the modern day version of sending a postcard – but of course is much more fun, having a wider audience and a far greater reach."
The research also shows that celebrities are doing their fair share of Smoasting too, with people believing the top 5 most prolific are:

1.     The whole TOWIE cast
2.     Made in Chelsea cast
3.     Rhianna
4.     Tulisa
5.     Victoria Beckham

The Northern Irish are the most likely to 'Smoast' whilst they are away (70%) with the Scottish and Londoners coming in closely behind (65%). Whereas people from East Anglia (74%) get angry about other people's Facebook and Twitter updates, with over half (52%) saying it is because they are showing off.

3. (2) Sony Xperia S
4. (3) Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II
5. (5) Samsung Galaxy Note

8. (-) Samsung GT-B2710 / Xcover 271
9. (-) HTC One X
10. (6) Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc/Arc S
() = Last month’s position.

Newly launched Samsung Galaxy SIII enters the list, directly into the first place. Samsung has the majority of placements on this month´s list and pushes down iPhone 4/4S that has been in the top of our list since November last year says Ulf Sandberg CEO at Krusell. Galaxy SIII has a sleek design, some new features but mostly a great 4, 8 HD super Amoled touchscreen and my guess is that it will stay at the top until Apple launches their next iPhone.

The Swedish manufacturer of carrying cases for portable electronics, Krusell, releases its "Top 10"-list for May 2012. The list is based on the number of pieces of custom made mobile- and smartphone cases ordered from Krusell during May 2012. Krusell's list is unique due to the fact that it reflects the sales of phones on six continents and in more than 70 countries around the globe.

Press Release: LG's first quad-core smartphone hits Europe

LG’S FIRST QUAD-CORE SMARTPHONE HITS EUROPE
Optimus 4X HD Includes LG’s New UX and Other Exclusive Features

SEOUL, June 11, 2012 – LG today announced that its first Quad-Core smartphone, the Optimus 4X HD, is now available for purchase in Europe. Since its introduction at the Mobile World Congress in February this year, the retail availability of the Optimus 4X HD has been eagerly anticipated. German customers will be the first to experience the power of Optimus 4X HD, followed by the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and Italy. The rest of the region, along with Asia, CIS, South and Central America will receive LG’s fastest smartphone in the weeks and months ahead.

With its high performance and stylish design, the Optimus 4X HD raises the bar significantly for competitors to match. Featuring NVIDIA’s 4-PLUS-1™ Quad-Core mobile processor, Tegra 3, the Optimus 4X HD boasts of unparalleled performance and speed. Tegra 3 automatically activates all four cores when a maximum power is needed but defaults to the fifth, battery-saver core when less power is required, such as during standby mode or music playback mode. And via the exclusive Eco-Mode application which will be provided with the software upgrade, users to manually shut down any of the Tegra 3’s cores for even more control over power consumption and performance. What’s more, with a 2,150mAh battery -- the largest among Quad-Core smartphones -- and proprietary SiO+ technology, the battery in the Optimus 4X HD is able hold a greater charge without adding bulk to the clean lines of the smartphone.

The 4.7-inch True HD IPS display on the Optimus 4X HD offers a superior high-clarity viewing experience with a resolution of 1280 x 720. Additionally, the 16:9 ratio allows for viewing more information at a glance and the device’s high pixel density of 313ppi and Stripe RGB IPS Panel offers sharper and crisper text. The Optimus 4X HD provides white background for the e-mail and message screen that users frequently use and True HD IPS allows for more accurate reproduction of white that enhances readability.

“The Optimus 4X HD is fast but speed alone isn’t what makes this smartphone so great,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Differentiated User Experience and exclusive features LG engineers have developed for this device set this phone apart as much as it’s Tegra 3 brain. With Optimus 4X HD, we’ve set the bar quite high for the industry and the competi-tion.”

The Optimus 4X HD boasts LG’s new User Experience (UX), Optimus UI 3.0, which includes QuickMemoTM. QuickMemoTM allows users the ability to instantly jot memos or notes from any screen, without having to open a separate application. The Optimus 4X HD also comes with Media PlexTM, which combines a range of functions to enhance image and video playback such as Fingertip Seek and Live Zooming. Media PlexTM also includes Time Catch Shot which allows one to select and save the best shot among the images taken just before the shutter button is depressed.

Tom’s Hardware, a global publication specializing in consumer electronics, selected Optimus 4X HD as one of the most innovative products at this year’s Mobile World Congress. For a video demonstration of LG’s most advanced smartphone, please visit http://2url.kr/cmj .
